Associate Professor High received his B.F.A. degree in 1973 from Texas Tech University, an M.A. in 1975 and M.F.A. in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in printmaking and art history. He initiated the program in serigraphy (silk-screen) printmaking in 1976 within the department. He is the recipient of several grants and fellowships including the Ford Foundation Travel Enrichment Grant, 1978, (Peru and Ecuador), and the Individual Artists Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1989. In his work, High concentrates on the foibles of human nature as manifested in the individual and throughout society as a whole. He has been in numerous national, international, and solo exhibitions. His work is also included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, Milwaukee Art Center, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, MA.
